moon river, i'm crossing you in style

After a stressful few days, all I wanted was a chill night.  So what better movie to pop in the old DVD player than Breakfast in Tiffany's?  I'm a huge fan of Audrey Hepburn.  Like, two framed pictures in my room and I own pretty much every book ever written about her.  I admire her for her beauty and style.  Here's just a couple small looks that really reminded me of her...

The glasses are from J.Crew.  So cute! They almost have this 'Jackie O' feel to them right?  I'm also in lovelovelove with that hat she's wearing, but I figured I'd keep this as realistic as I could.

Eeeeeep! That classic Holy GoLightly eyemask... Fred Flare!  Just daaaaahling. (;

this line just might deserve a cartwheel

I used to admire pieces from Betsey Johnson collections, but I would never think of wearing them.  My style just differed from the gaudy detail and elaborate prints on the pieces.  I just found it kind of...loud.  But when I saw her 2011 spring line I could actually see myself wearing some of it.

There was obviously that infamous edge to all of the pieces. Like the bike chain wrapped around the model, going along with the whole 'biker' theme.  But I began to see these new styles, colors and floral patterns.  The dresses were more traditional (minus the 'Ride Me' necklace shown with each dress), but still so playful!  There's honestly something for everyone here. All of her outfits are the definition of feminine but she adds her own flashy touch to this line that still makes it bold.

snow in my socks

There's nothing worse than when that little bit of snow sneaks into your shoe.  That's probably why this winter I've managed to become quite attached to boots. These are all images of ones I'm dying to have.

Top row, left to right: Ugg, silver, Classic Short Sparkles; Zigi GIrl 'Onsite' Boot, Nordstrom; DV by Dolce Vita 'Bailey' Boot, Nordstrom
Bottom row, left to right: Steve Madden "Troopa" Boot, Nordstrom; Suede MacAlister Boot, J.Crew; 'Troopa' Boot in Natural Leather

Aren't they so cute?  There all different takes on the traditional boring old boot.  The sequence Uggs are gorgeous. They're so different than the typical pair every teen age girl owns.  I saw them first when watching Oprah's Favorite Things 2010...I instantly fell in love!  Then last week I saw a woman wearing them in the Orlando airport.  She was wearing those gray J.Crew take on sweatpants.  The boots added that glam to her entire look, and I fell in love all over again. This winter I've also been obsessed with wearing wool socks, and that's probably why I picked all fairly short boots.  Can you imagine any of those boots paired with a gray wool sock peeking out the top with a fabulous pair of skinny jeans? Gahhhhhh, perfect. So, what do you think of them? Which is your faaaav?

Why Hello There...

I've decided to try something new.  I've been intrigued by the world of fashion ever sense I was a little girl.  Each day I look for ways to grow my enormous wardrobe through pieces that inspire my own personality.  Lately I've been thinking, why not put this fashion fedish of mine to some use and share my discoveries with anyone who shares this same passion?  I'm still gettin' hip to the blogging world, but I plan on posting frequently in the future. I'd love to here you're opinions as well so comments would be lovely!
All the best, Madison
